I like my new lfs (opened 2024). We lost all our old lfs during the pandemic unfortunately and were left to the mercy of chain store or ordering online for fish, but now a new one opened up and they're fantastic.

I like to take a lot of photos of fish they get in when I stop in. I'd like to share the photos here, though it could be a long thread with a lot of photos. I will return to this thread with new photos when I visit so feel free to check back every now and again.

For now, I will catch you all up with photos from previous visits :D I will label photos if I know what it is (some fish I can't recall or I am not well versed over that specific group of fish).

Trichogaster chuna (wild). I bought this pair.

Wow! Nice new fish in a new lfs! I'm glad you have new local options. I always prefer to see fish before I buy. They have some nice less usual fish! I know you'll help keep them in business, lol.

They special order things as well. Hence the trigonopoma! I requested those, Paracheirodon simulans, and the aphyocharax rathbuni and they got them in for me. They order in dry goods as well. They are always willing to special order in my Neutral Regulator and they have a really good food selection. All sorts of Repashy, Tropical, Fluval, and Northfin lines of food, an amazing selection of frozen foods and even some live cultures as well. They do plants too.

They carry only smaller aquariums in store due to space constraints, BUT they will order in larger tanks upon request too. The owner is very knowledgeable too and is very active in our local aquarium community and caters to what locals are wanting instead of bringing in the usual fare.

Prices are very reasonable as well. He quarantines all new stock before it goes up for sale, too. They're fed flakes, frozen, and whiteworms in store too so they're being given good foods off the bat. Also willing to buy local bred stock from people too. Everyone is pretty happy with this new store. It's small, but he has really put in a ton of effort to make it successful. It's really hard for me to not walk out with fish. But, I get to take photos so it's not so bad if I cannot bring home more fish 🤣

But seriously, I am eventually considering those rhino gobies because they were such a fun fish to watch. Reading that they're both brackish and freshwater, I may opt to go brackish with them and when we move to a place with more space, have a tank dedicated to them and perhaps something else that's brackish from the same area. Gobies are cool but even stiphodon and such didn't really win me over to want a full tank just towards them like those rhino gobies did.
