I have just noticed that when i was reading through my tropical aquarium fishes book by interpet that the fish i got from my lfs were not zebra danios, they are in fact penguin fish totally different family

I knew this after I bought them, i said to myself they aren't zebra's but when I look at the tank and the fish that were in their it says zebra's, I have spoken to guy and he was thinking the same too

This has just proven to me that the lfs isn't all that experienced and me being only new to fishkeeping for 1 and a half years, shows that I probably know better than him

Will have to go a prove him right and change the name on the tank

But have any of you had a bigget problem with your lfs wrongly naming things

P.S I know there was a thread about this before but come I had to post this one the fish are to different type of families ones charcidae (penguin) the other cyprinidae (zebra)

yeah seen it a few times in rubbish lfs's..... I always point it out to them, usually get a mouthful of abuse but I keep trying! and then try to shop somewhere else where they know what they're doing :D

my lfs are known for putting 2 bettas in the same tank (usually by accident) then they get a beating from me. or in with large groups of gouramis. or 4000 neon tetras. le sigh!!

I've had it multiple times (ie different stores), mostly with different species of apistogramma, so I just take it for granted now that most of the fish stores where I live know stuff all about dwarf cichlids and I get what i get

my lfs named fishes differently/uniquely...
