He does look like a hot new prospect. I just hope he has a competitive car all season, which he should have, and our media don't hype him up so much. Their always just waiting for our young sportspersons to fail.

Would have been second if there wasn't the hold up in the pit lanes too.. top first go eh!

yup sad isn't it, although his PR/management type people seemed fairly on the ball, no one could get enar him before the race and stuff. he's also been groomed for this for the last 10 years, hopefully it'll have given him enough preparation to be able to cope with the fame and the media

Formula 1 zzzzzz If you want great racing try watching MotoGP or World Superbikes ! Faring bashing at 180+ mph & endless overtaking & it's actually done ON the track & not just in the pits !!

Technically the cars are incredible but the ahem..'racing' is soooooo dull.

I did see the documentary on young Mr Hamilton, talented lad by the looks of it, hopefully he'll live up to his potential.

couldnt agree more :good: :good: :good: :good: . f1 is interesting, but only to find who won, the races are a real drab spectacle, only really making sense if watched on tv .

Moto gp bikes have an 800cc engine, producing in the region of 240 bhp, which works out at the equivalent of about 1000bhp if scaled up ti f1 engine size. they dont blow up, and the same engine, can be and is used, for many races. the majority of riders reside in their own countrys, unlike F1 where it can often be a stipulation of your contract that you live in monaco,(so it the team pays you 10 million a year you don't pay tax and nether do they)!!!!

lol it makes me laugh when couthard, and co claim to be British, the greedy sods want us to follow them and spend our hard earned cash to see them, but dont want to give anything back to the country the claim to represent.
Rossi lives in London, and earns more than some F1 drivers.

and from an ecological point of view, even the screaming two stroke engines are far more economical than a F1 car. the truth of the matter is, far more about the running of economical internal combustion engines has been learnt with motorcycle engines in the past ten years, than in the entire history of F1. racing improves the breed, they used to say, can you think of anything from F1 that has really helped the average car? ABS? no banned by f1 developed by road car and bike makers. Active suspension? no banned by f1, developed by car manufactures. engine management? no developed by drag racers. automatic or flappy paddle gearbox? have you ever driven a car with this crap on it, they are horrible to use and more often than not hamper the cars performance.

i got Teletext for the F1 results and a tv for the bikes!

Aye Lewis Hamilton could well be the first british formula 1 champion for a long time, Damon Hill was the last. I just wish Jenson Button would get a decent car.

Has to be the most talented F1 driver of all time!

Lets wait until he's actually won a title or two before we start building him up like that.

How soon we can forget the talent of people like Ayrton Senna and a certain Mr Schumacher.

He has certainly had a fantastic debut year and he has the potential to be a great driver, but he's not there yet.

Did anyone see him when he was on Top Gear and what his lap time was - unbelievable!

yeah that was awesome, on an oily track too.

funny though, Ian got me his book for xmas..... and lets put it this way, it's a good thing he's a driver not a writer, bless his little heart. :)

Yep, he was fantastic on TG :good:

I actually am looking forward to the next F1 season for the first time in a number of years and fingers crossed, he'll win the title this time having learned some hard lessons last season.
