My LFS has had this fellow for a while, and I watched him change from being white with beautiful dark stripes to completely white. Just thought I'd share him, because he is really an amazing fish. Not sure if he would technically be considered truly lutino since he changed so late in life (he's around 14"), but I don't know what else to call it :dunno:

And yes, that oscar's face really is crooked.

Amazing fish!

That gravel is awful though..

That fish is awsome. I like the oscar also. I am a big oscar fan I have 6 of them right now and I plan on buying more. Why is his face like that for?? Some kind of birth defect I suppose.. Any way Awsome Fish... :kewlpics: :kewlpics: :kewlpics:

Beautiful fish, a shame however that your tank is ridiculously small for a TSN. They can grow up to 4 feet quite easily, and at his current size he already looks far too big to even turn around in your tank, let alone swim up and down - A real shame!

I suggest you get a bigger tank, sell him or take him to a public aquarium...

Housing it in your 80gallon is cruel if not anything else.

Sorry to be so blunt but why the hell didn't you find out how big these grow before purchasing it. I just HOPE that your 80Gallon is a short term solution...

Tropical pond anyone?

No idea why his face is like that, he came in that way (probably given to the shop by somebody). I like him a lot... he's really angry and I love putting my hand up to the tank so he tries to bite me through the glass
He's nothing like my docile big boy :)

Like OohFeeshy said, it's at my LFS, and the tank he's in isn't even as big as mine! More like a 55 gallon. Trust me, I research before I buy, so there's no way I'd even attempt keeping one of these guys until I have my dream MASSIVE aquarium many years down the line :p. I think he was given to the shop by someone who could no longer house him, because I know the owner wouldn't be daft enough to order in a fish she can't possibly house, but she will take fish from others if they can't handle them anymore. I would suggest that she offer it to a public aquarium, but there isn't one within a 4 hour drive of where I live and I know she wouldn't be able to do that.

Edit: Oh, and my oscar isn't albino... or crooked . I'm not a big fan of albino/leucistic fish

Just a side note: The oscar's face was probably like that because in his current or old tank, he had to lift heavy stones and rocks which caused a mouth defect. i had a severum like that once

It's not just his mouth though Dwarf_Dude... it's his entire face
He has a big indention on his right side that makes his entire face bend that direction. It looks like some sort of physical trauma broke his skull :dunno:

Hmm...It is possible he was
a) Physically abused by a previous owner (thrown around etc)
b ) Something extremely heavy fell on him
c)got in a big fight
or d) born that way -_-

Anyway, back to topic
Why not try and convince your lfs to donate or sell it to the local public aquarium(sorta like what bunji said) that way, you could see him almost anytime
