Ok, here is the deal.
I have a 75 gallon tank that is a mixed community tank. See sig for latest and greatest.
Anyhow, i have a set of german ram that have laid eggs for the last 4 months almost 2 times per month, like clockwork. I think it is the water changes that really kick it in to gear.
So they laid the eggs over the weekend and the have since hatched. They are currently at the "wiggler" stage.
I managed to get almost all of them out of the main tank and into a semi-cycled 5 gallon tank. The tank has been running for just a few days. Normally it is a hospital tank so it usually has fresh water that is cycled. But I kept the tank off for a couple of days before this latest escapade.
So as the powerhead is for a 10 gallon tank, i have turned it off and removed it from the tank. I took readings from the tank and all the numbers were right on. So no issues there.
I will do waterchanges with a small hose that i have and make sure that I am careful when putting it back in.
I have hakari first bites for food.
I would like to document the process here so that I have something to look back on and hopefully build on and repeat or try something new. Maybe get a sticky out of it... :good:
I am open to any and all suggestions, tips etc.
I will also have to keep in mind that it is only a 5 gallon tank and they will eventually have to be moved to a bigger tank.

Thank you in advance.

really, not a single reply. whats the deal with that...

ok, well we are at day 3 in the 5 gallon tank.
I have been changing the water using a piece of airline tubing and some gravity.
So far, it looks like some might have died, but i am not sure how to pick them up from the tank. I would hate to get the live ones by accident. There are still many of them wiggling around on the bottom the tank. 4 have started to swim.
I would think that most of them will be swimming by tomorrow. It is so exciting to sit and watch them. They dont do much, but the whole process is interesting. I will keep you posted. thx

so I added about 5 drops of meth blue to the water. It says on the bottle it is good for fry.
I noticed what looked like fungus growing in there. I have read that it is the best to use.
That crap will stain everything if you are not carefull

ok, so they are all now swimming, I could not see one that was not. which is good. Means that every one that i grabbed with my baster has lived. I would post a pic but the water is way to blue still. I am doing daily 2 gallon water changes using air hose.
I am treating the water with stress coat.
wow, still not a single reply. thats pretty sad.. where is all the traffic..

Hey congrats man! Good news about the fry home bred rams can fetch a good price! Did you do anything to the water? Or is it just tap?

pretty freaking lame.
this is a forum. I should not always have to post pics to get a freaking response.
This is not the first time that no one ever posts in this section.
I think that is not visited by a lot of people.
