Lets Help Bettas On Youtube! (urgent!)

tbh i think that most of these have passed away,
some are more than 2 weeks old,
2 weeks is more than enough for a fish to die from a disease so there no point in this thread

Some are only 1-2 days old, it cant hurt to try anyway. What if they get another betta and have the same thing, if we post the right info, you may help there next betta.

One was last year. If these people wanted to seriously get help they wouldn't post on youtube. Its probably the last place in the world i would post. Plus i haven't got a youtube account and dont one either. There are enough people to keep us busy on here.

Just post on there for them to join a forum for help.

I posted some advice whether they see it or not, other people who watch the video will then read it and hopefully learn. I could give them the site, but most people wont join, some simple tips can help at least. When people posted that betta abuse video everyone posted on the video how bad it was, reguardless of the date posted. Why not try, if these people get more bettas they may make the same mistake.

thats a good point

Love4aquatic - that keeper is in Brazil. Its unfortunate, but in certain parts of the world it happens, and comments left isn't going to make a blind bit of difference.

------------------------------------------------------------

Lets face it, the bettas that people buy that have been imported from Asia have probably been kept in similar circumstances and then popped in a bag for 4/5 days to get to the UK. Yes, the breeders out there keep the males in small containers too! So, you got to ask yourself, is one of them right and the other wrong? If they are both wrong, then we are being hypocritical every time we buy an imported fish, whether its from an LFS or a private importer. Bettas have been farmed the same way in Asia for decades, and i believe they produce some very fine and good quality bettas. I dont agree with the farms that use unnatural food stuffs to increase the bettas growth, but there's very little i, or anyone else will ever do to change that.

Thanks to some of you who commented on the videos and posted great advice! I posted on every video to check out bettatalk and fishforums for more betta care information. On 1 video the poster just saw the advice we all gave how to help their sick betta, and was very grateful, so it's a start! :)

Sorry Modaz, but I am not going to "chill out" when it comes to cruelty. Thats the wrong attitude to have and nothing would get done about it. (about the link with the dead fish not youtube)

I dont see anywhere in those links that show cruelty, the round tank is not too small for the betta, not ideal but not 100% NO NO! and the link that you added from that other forum only showed a dead betta, the owner was honest and said it died behind a filter, it was no way near cruelty, these things happen.
I agree with Bronze. To be honest if everyone who complained and half cried about what they saw actually knew the ins and out of breeders over the world there would be less shock for them to endure. OK shops that have them in cups is beyond cruelty but i think i saw a link to an obvious shop with bettas on a shelf in half coke bottles or similar and I would rather see them in there than in cups. What makes me angry with people is the over sensitive attitude all the time and the OMG OMG this poor betta!!!! its getting a little bit boring as the www is full of it, sometimes I wish I could come on here and have a decent conversation about bettas and not a heated and overeacted debate over the world of bettas and their evil owners.

The bettas in the coke bottles where active and had clean water. The dead betta was an accident. The bettas in need on youtube is not cruelty either. Most of those posters prob have joined forums anyway and some may have tried youtube after not hearing what they wanted to hear on forums.

All I did was try to give advice, after that there is nothing I can do, but it felt good to try and help.

and that all that is needed, 1 person is capable of giving advice, sorry mate but i just dont see why so many threads of this nature appear in the betta section, we dont see them as often in any other sections. We are getting loads per week and from what ive seen in other betta forums you dont see much of it.
