would two leopard bush fish be ok with an angel fish? i have never kept these fish before but would very much like to. are they hard fish to keep? will they eat the normal frozen blood worm, brineshrimp and comunity feast? what size tank would be best for these fish?

I assume you mean Ctenopoma acutirostre? I have one and it eats frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worms and flake food. They are a relatively peaceful fish, but they do like cover so either have caves or a heavily planted tank so they feel comfortable. I would say at least a 25 gallon for them, as they can eventually get to around 6 inches. Not sure how they would get along with an angel, but there shouldn't be any problems as they'll probably steer clear of each other. As a side note, there's no real reason to get two as sexing is difficult.

sexing is not always possible with young fish but as they get older males have spines on the
gill covers :good:

remember these fish are ambush predators and they have a very wide opening mouth
and lightning speed when they strike.

i wont be getting them for breeding reasons just thought it would be nice to have two. they would be baught at a young age, my angel would be twice the size of the ones i have seen at my local pet shop. if i was to get two and they both turned out to be males would they fight? Or should they be fine?

getting a pair at the same time from the same shop should negate any problems,
territories will be created together as they grow.
it is only when adding another to an established one/pair/group that people encounter
any aggression issues.

Wolf,

I've read that often, but mine has never shown any interest in any of my fish, even the ottos. Have you seen this behavior first hand?

sure have
mine ate my 4 male and 3 of the female blackchin livebearers.
I actually saw a strike at one of the males, well I say saw but it was so quick
I didn't really see the grab.
Trust me they are very fast when they strike :good:

I must say I would want a decent size tank for 2, probably more than being suggested here. My two often chase each other and engage in aggression beahaviour despite having an entire 6x2x2 to wander around in.

Mine feed on prawns and mussels now but will still take flakes and floating pellets.

They are extremely swift when striking, which they often show off when hunting feeder shrimp in the tank.

thanx for all the info! i think i will deff get a couple, just have to wait a few weeks, hate waiting lol.
thanx again! kind regards, vamp.
