my dad came home today with lemon cichlid that i didnt want and he puts it in the tank, now that he bought it i need t take care of it. its about a month old and its in a 10 gallon. I kno thats to small but in about 2 weeks its going into the 50 gallon when i get it. Do I need a heater right now that its in the 10 gallon??? Can I put anthing else in there?

it depends what the temperature ofthe surroundings of the tank are... the tank should be kept around 78 degrees farenheit

and if u r moving into a 50 gallon in 2 weeks or so, i wouldnt put anything else in there

and a lemon cichlid is most likely a yellow lab and thats an mbuna

mbuna should only be kept with other mbuna so when u stock ur 50 gallon which is a good tank for yellow labs, u might want to get some more yellow labs and maybe 1 or 2 other species of mbuna

a lemon cichlid is a lamprologus lelupi. a shelldweller from lake tanganyika. so it is neither a mbuna or a malawi. they do require shells. you can get escargot shells for them. they inhabit the abandoned shells. one in a 10 would be okay but it would be better in a 20 with a few others. they are a dwarf cichlid. max size is about 2" adult
