Led Recommendations

I currently have the Marineland Single Bright Day/Night LEDs installed in my hood. Unfortunatley, its very small and so light doesnt get any where except primarily the middle of the tank. I was thinking about upgrading to a glass canopy and having a Marineland Reef Capable LED light because its the only LED capable of good lighting for plants. But its horribly expensive, so should I invest in this or does anyone have some other recommendations? Preferrably LED because its cheaper in the long-run and the moon light is sweet.
Or should I just buy another hood and get daylight lamps and just install my own LEDs? Or should I just cope with my misfortune and only have a tank full of anubias
Buying a new hood may be good, but buying a new lamp every month will be expensive...

You could use knock-off Luxeon LED's to build your own unit very cheaply, how big is the tank? Dimensions?

A 20 long, 24.5"x12.5".

Edit: After viewing some reviews from the Reef Capable LED, its not actually that great and really not worth the price. Any good aquarium hood recommendations?

I love building this things.. And modifying some led units that made for other purpose...

U can build a led unit more powerful then tmc aquaray unit.. Under a 10 quids...

Just one more question, how would you attach the LEDs (like luxeon) to the hood? Glue?

They'd need mounting on heat sinks with thermal adhesive pads and then fixing to the hood with screws.

is it not a bit bright for the fish since its meant to be 'night'

Wasn't planning on keeping it on all night, just for an hour before the light is due to shut off

Yeah that's what i do this light comes on just before my main tank lights go off and stays on for an hour and a half.

I actually siliconed it to the bottom of my lighting unit that goes right across the middle of my tank.
