Hi,

Does anybody use dimmers for their leds?

Was thinking of getting one to replicate sunrise/sunset before the T5`s kick in. Are they worth it and if so why?

Would welcome any comments.

Thanks.

Stef

if you can be bothered to program timers and such to make a propper cycle with moon lights etc aswel. You are more likely to see spawnings with fish, corals and clams. i myself am too lazy :)

Thanks Ben.

Would this help in keeping pH more stable as well?

Thanks.

When I get around to it I will be making a circuit to slowly increase and decrease LED brightness, to do as you've mentioned. It wont benefit the fish so much but will look very nice :)

I did plan on doing the project a while back when I was out of work, but I'm working now and haven't got the time for it yet...the old thread is here in case it gives you any inspiration: http://www.fishforum...ircuit-project/

One day I'll have done the job and will then be probably selling the pre-programmed chip and circuit designs for DIY enthusiasts, but it will be a long way off...

Are you talking hi power LEDS or just regular ones? I have been thinking of adding high powered LEDS and regular moonlight LEDS to my system for awhile (in addition to the T5's) to give the sunrise/sunset effect and to give a few spots in the tank of higher light intensity.

I was thinking of something to complement t5's, so no not high power, just enough to bring light on and off gradually to mimic dusk and dawn, with blue at night.
The jury is still out for me w.r.t LED lighting for plants (freshwater for me) so I'm not prepared to go all LED right now.
