Hello,
Been lingering around here for a while and seen some really good examples, Im new to the aquarium hobby so bare with my ignorance
Anyway, have a small 45l tank for a while, been running light strips which cost a few £'s, light output has been fine, though plants seem to not fair overly well, most of the plants just doesn't look as green as they should. Perhaps its because LED's dont give the full range of lighting required for plants to grow..?
Recently bought a 110l flural tank and plans are to plum in proper LED lighting into it.
So the current specs I have are:
2x UV 15 LED strip 30cm (to give extra lighting for plants)
1x blue 120 LED strip 90cm
1x white 120 LED strip 90cm
1x 12v 5a AC-DC converter - from my calculations this will be able to power the above plus more if needed.
Using cable trunking found at local b&q/hardware store (£2 per 2m?) to mount on the fish tank.
The UV strips been delivered so installed them on first, hopefully the rest will be done early next week
(Apologies about the quality, try get some decent ones next week, it looks alot less blue in real life and more UV)
Total cost was about £20, not sure if there's enough lighting but its been built/designed to handle up to 60W of lighting. I'll move onto the high powered LED's at a later stage, just wanted to put these LED strips to the test first before spending more time/effort into light build.
Suggestions/opinions welcome,
