Leaves Going Brown

I posted this over in the new to hobby section also. Some of the leaves on my plants have been going brown just wondering what I do to avoid this. I have been keeping the lights on for around about 10-12 hours per day. Also on a few plants I have noticed what looks like long strands of string floating off them. Any idea what this is. The tank has been running for just over 2 weeks now. 125ltr

The string will be string algae .

What type of plants do you have, what lighting do you have, do you dose CO2, and what fertilisers do you use?

You have your lights on too long for a newly setup tank. You ahousl also try doing several water changes a week for the first few weeks to reduce the ammonia as this is triggering your algae.

What lighting do you have and how many plants are we talking?
