Lead Weights In Aquariums

I've just been to a new (to me) lfs, and noticed that they use strips of lead to hold down various bits of vegetables used as food in their tanks. Is it ok to put lead in aquariums?

Yes it is fine, Lead doesn't dissolve in water and it is a malleable metal so shards of it are unlikely to break off.
