Lava Rock

Hi there
Ive been given some rock off my brother who has brought a tank but doesnt want it in the tank.
The guy told him it was lava rock and im almost sure it is, also if it is can i put this in my Malawi Mbuna tank?
ive put some pics up, sorry about the quality. some pieces are reddish but most are like an ash grey but they seem quite rough feel and very pourous and extremely light in weight compared to the size of the piece.

Yeah I don't see why not I've seen Malawi Tanks with Lava rock in them but, you'll probably want to wash or boil it before putting it in there.

Yes! I use it in my tank, excellent rock, but try to remove any sharp edges as they do come fairly spikey. You don't really need to boil it, just give it a rinse

Yup, this is one of my favorate rocks, I find they look exceptionally good in these tanks once they have a nice carpet of algae. I've also gone the rinsing route without any problems, but by all means boiling is a good failsafe.
