I bought a few pepper cories the other day, all three were different sizes (Goldilocks style).

Anyway, when I was looking at them closely, I noticed that the biggest one has a goldish sheen to it. Really freaked me out because I had just read some stuff on velvet.

Thank goodness for Google Images! Before I could drive myself crazy, I looked up pepper cories, and it turns out, they are supposed to look like that!

I learned a valuable lesson, and now everyone else can laugh with me

I've done it aswell.

That happened with my sister's peppered Cory, she even treated it! After the amount of time the medicine said to treat it she figured out that it was normal, then her Betta killed the Cory...

She only had one Cory, and a Betta in a 3.5 Gallon tank, it ended up with one eye, and no fins before it died. It is. :(

Ah. That's too bad! And it probably wouldn't have happened in a larger tank, which makes it worse. I guess the betta was being territorial, and there just wasn't anywhere for the cory to hide or run

Yeah, bad advice from somebody who has two of the Betta, and one Cory stock (only a smaller tank with one of them) and no aggression problems.
