hi everyone :D i went out to the fish store and picked up 4 blue gouramis, it was either them or swordtails. i went with the gouramis becuase i thought they'd be more interesting

i've never kept them before, but they look like sweethearts! they're so cute with those litlte feeler things  but they're a litlte scared at the moment so i'll leavethem alone :)

it was a good deal too! four for $5.00! lfs was having a sale

aww man that is a great deal, and for fish like that. i dont think iv ever even seen a blu gourami. wen they come out of hideing send me a pic plz! :D

yeah :D i thought it was a sweet deal too. they had opaline gourami but i liked the blue ones better. Actually i took the last 3 blue, so one of them is an opaline. Unfournatel hes very very beat up right now :( i didn't see this while i was at the lfs, he has a torn tail fin, and is very skinny -_- i hope he cheers up being in the new tank :)

At the moment, i haven't quite found a place for htem yet. so i kept 2 in my 25g, which has:

2 kribs
3 platties
3 otos

and the other 2 is in my 15g, with:

4 female bettas
3 cory cats
3 guppies

do you think it'll be okay if i moved all 4 into the 25g? or should i leave 2 in the 25g and theo ther 2 in the 15g?

btw, here is a picture of a blue gourami that i found on the net:

i just got a pair of colbolt gouramis today never really looked at them before as i thought they were agressive butthey seem ok in my community tank, think im going to get some more maybe the red ones :)

wouldnt the gouramis hurt the female bettas?

that's what i'm worried about. Which is why i'm moving tehse two back into the 25g downstiars -_- dont' want to rsik my bettas hurt :p

I'm not sure, if your kribs are a breeding pair, I'd think the kribs would destroy those gouramis. I know mine would. :/ Make sure you have tons of hiding places and retreats.

On the other hand, I would defiantly not put 4 in a 15g. Even with 1, I'd think your guppies would be missing their tails soon. The gold gourami I had killed my rainbow shark before I returned him, and he was in a 29g.

These fish can be surprisingly aggressive.

Sorry to be a buzzkill cc, but I'm just speaking from my experience.

Hopefully you'll have much better luck than I did.

i never thought about putting all 4 in my 15g, i assume if i did all my fish would be gone the next day!

i have now all 4 in the 25g with the kribs, the tank has many hiding spots and i've been carefully watching since i put them in. It seems that the kribs will chase them off (they chase everything off anywahs) if they go near their litlte nest/house place. But otherwise, the gouramis tend to stick tot eh top and right side of the tank. While the kribs stay to thte bottom and left side of the tank.

They seem okay, was eating fish flakes with teh platties (and got over the fear of my hand over the tank)

I thought the same thing too! And true enough when I first put my female betta in with my male gourami he started chasing her, but only when food is involved. Well, the other day, I guess the girly had enough because the next thing I see is she's flaring and then I hear a bump (the gourami hit the underside of the hood) and then a splash (getting back in the water) and then the gourami swimming circles trying to get away from her! :D I know this may sound mean, but he deserved it! Moral of the story: Don't mess with the queen!

 excellent story! female bettas are quite tough and fiesty! never mess with them :flex:

the gouramis have been moved to the 25g, so the feamles will be left alone :p the gouramis like to chase each other around and bug each other more htan anything else :p but hwen food comes in they drop whatever they're doing and start munching :D

well, i have one of hte gouramis seperated :/ he wasn't doin so hot when i first go thim from the lfs,and i noticed today taht he did'nt do much moving, and seemed to be picked on by the bigger gouramis. So he's no win his own 1g with salt + melafix (his tail is missing half).

-_- hope he feels better
