Does laterite erode/ dissappear when it has been depleted after however long (1 year)?

Because if I use it mixed with a gravel can I just mix in more laterite every year?

thanks,

Alps

I suspect it'll lose its 'richness' nutrients wise but I think one of the main advantages to laterite is that is 'absorbs' nutrients from the fish waste, and holds it ready for the plants, so suspect it'll later a great deal longer, especially in low growth tanks.

As to it holding its shape, not sure, Jimboo is the expert of this stuff but hes not around that much at the moment, anyone else?

So it will just lose its nutrients after a period of time, but not physically disappear/erode?

thanks for the help
