hey i saw you use play sand. i was thinking about getting some, is there anything special i have to do to it before i put it in?

do you think i could put sand in my tank? because i have an over the back filter and wont that stir the sand up?

I have hang on the back filters and sand.  I've had some minor issues... recently.  My BN pleco is rearranging the substrate at night, kicking up a bunch of sand (and I mean a BUNCH).  This has caused some sand to be pulled through the sand and as a result I had to replace the impellers on the filters.  One was in use with no issues for 2+ years.  The other was one that I had to replace about a year ago (same issue).  They cost about $8 each, so I'm not too worried about it.
 
The sand isn't kicked up by the filters, just my BN.
