Then use a dry cotton bud (q-tip) to gently brush the fungus off as best you can and then paint the iodine onto the fungus area (again with a cotton bud) making sure any excess iodine runs towards the tail and not the head.
I fished out the oto today and put him onto a clean paper towel soaked in tank water. As I attemped to brush the "fungus" off, the cotton on the q-tip seemed to get snagged on it, like it was rubbing on a hard surface, so I touched the white spot and it is not soft like I expected fungus to be. It felt like a hard bump, almost callus-like.
I returned him to the tank since it didn't seem like I was going to be able to just brush it off the surface.
Now I actually have no idea what this is.. It is still the same size and in the same spot; no progression of any kind. Should I just wait it out?
