Larger Than 'ich' White Spot On Otocinclus

Then use a dry cotton bud (q-tip) to gently brush the fungus off as best you can and then paint the iodine onto the fungus area (again with a cotton bud) making sure any excess iodine runs towards the tail and not the head.

I fished out the oto today and put him onto a clean paper towel soaked in tank water. As I attemped to brush the "fungus" off, the cotton on the q-tip seemed to get snagged on it, like it was rubbing on a hard surface, so I touched the white spot and it is not soft like I expected fungus to be. It felt like a hard bump, almost callus-like.

I returned him to the tank since it didn't seem like I was going to be able to just brush it off the surface.

Now I actually have no idea what this is.. It is still the same size and in the same spot; no progression of any kind. Should I just wait it out?

It might be a cyst or perhaps the beginning of a tumour then.

Do any of the other fish have anything wrong with them?

No, none of the other fish seem to have anything wrong with them. Everyone is doing fine including this oto, with the exception of the white spot. Is it something I should worry about? It doesnt seem contagious.. Should I quarantine?

I don't think there's a need to quarantine, at least not yet anyway. My best guess is that it is a cyst formed after injuring himself. All I can suggest is to keep a close eye on it. If it gets bigger or changes in some other way then report back and maybe we can help then.
