I currently have a 6 gallon tank with 1 Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami, 1 bamboo shrimp and 1 gold-banded pleco. I inherited the pleco as a gift, but it's a little too crowded now in this tank.

So I want to get a 20 inch tank, and need to think about some new friends. I adore my blue dwarf gourami - he has such personality. I've thought about adding a second one, but somehow I think he might prefer being the "only child".

Any other suggestions of a few more inhabitants for the larger tank?

I have two blue dwarf gourami and they tend to fight. Maybe your could get him a couple of girlfriends.

Adding two females is an option. However, you may preffer some kind of shoaling fish. Cherry barbs, zebra danios, golden dwarf barbs, harlequin rasboras, checker barbs, corydoras catfish (bottom dwellers), black phantom tetras, cardinal or neon tetras (slightly more fragile), rummy-nose tetras, head and tailight/beacon tetras are all options. All these fish should be kept in groups of at least 4 of each species but 6 or more is better. What is the volume of the tank you are planning to buy exactly? Length is not enough.

Oops - I'm sorry. I meant to type 20 gal tank not 20 inch :)

Does anyone know anything about a German Blue Ram Cichlid that is supposed to be a peaceful omnivore that can go in a community tank? I never heard of a peaceful cichlid before....

There are several peaceful cichlids (take angelfish for example) and most rams are suitable for a community aquarium. I have heard of them being kept with all sorts of fish without problems but haven't kept them myself. I think they grow to about 3 inches max. Are you thinking of getting one? It may be a good idea - then you could just add a small shoal of some small fish and your tank would be complete :)
