Soon I'll have to be re-housing my smaller community fish since my firemouth and blue acara with be eventually trying to snack on them. Right now they are both under a few inches. Anyway, I have kuhli loaches in this 65 gallon. I'd like to just keep them in there with the cichlids, but I have these horrible visions of the kuhlis being sucked up like spaghetti.  I've read that some people have been able to keep kuhli's with just about anything, and they go unbothered. Has anyone here tried them with larger cichlids?

i pretty sure with the firemouths, but with the blueacara im not to sure :/

mine have been ok with my firemouths so far (however the firemouths arent fully grown yet), but i did grow on a convict fry a little while back and that one despatched a kuhli before it was even 2" long!!

I've kept Kuhli Loaches with many different Cichlids. The Cichlids may chase the Kuhli Loaches around a bit, but they rarely catch the Kulhi Loaches. Provided there is ample cover in the aquarium, it is a risk that I would consider worth taking....

Thanks for the input. :D

For now, I'll just plan on keeping them with the acara and firemouth. I was under the impression the acara will be relatively non-aggressive (for a cichlid, of course). Has anyone seem to have the experience with them?

And what's the smallest fish I could keep with a acara with it still being a tankmate, instead of lunch?

I had one, didn't last two minutes he had been in the tank for about 4 months and as soon as the festae went in there he spotted him right away, chased him, and when it went under the gravel that was it he just smashed his head into the gravel grabbed him out and well the rest is history
