Are kuhli loaches (pangio kuhlii) nocturnal because I don't usually see mine out during the day apart from at feeding time.

As far as i know yes I always see mine swimming about thenI turn the light on and they disappear. The black ones come out for feeding but I hardly ever see the striped ones.

When my lights go on in the morning my kuhlis go mental swimming all over the place then they calm down and go under the bogwood or into some plants.

lol Matty P my kuhlis do this! Don't see them for ages and just as I think they must have died one or both come out and go nuts flying about the front of the tank for a few mins then go and hide again for weeks! Cute little things though!

Yeh they are great little fish :good: :p :D

they are noctornal but its also said that if they are kept in larger groups they will be more comfortable and come out more, tho they arent shoaling fish, just perfer numbers.

Murph

I have five and almost always see them at night with the lunar light and rarely in the day. It's kind of boring but I like them when they do show up.

I have 12 and 5-6 of them are black ones who are practically always partially visible, the silver one comes out for food doesn't care who's watching and the panda one comes out when he's feeling brave but the striped ones I'll see once or twice a fortnight!

Matty I had the same with mine, they are crazy little things because the number of times I thought they had died aaaaaaages ago but then all of a sudden would see 2 of them all intertwined and luv dup lol

They are mad for hiding, though if you have sand substrate, they are great to see them wading their way through it, chucking sand out their gills

x

I have a smooth gravel substrate so I have never seen them chucking sand out their gills, sounds pretty cool.

i had some once, and the last time i saw them was when they were still in the bag. after they got into the tank, *poof* and gone.

 They are funny little fish, I'm sure ther're still kicking around somewhere...

Oh how they lurrrrrve sand ( remember that thing in Beetlejuice? weeeeny versions of :D )
