ok i've looked and looked and this is y i hate the net and all those stupid books. i've heard of everything from 1" to 5", so can anybody clarify, how big do kribs get?

I congratulate for your interest in them.

Like you, 'Beany.....', I've read so many descriptions of what a Krib is, their size, gender detail, community information etc. I don't blame you for feeling like you're kicking a stone ball.

It can become difficult to believe in anything, but I think and hope, you've come to the right forum. Where, no doubt, you will still get conflicting opinions, but my advice is to listen to someone who actually has the fishes in their keep, and had them for awhile (unfortunately, this wouldn't be me...yet).

I have three of these beauties myself, but they aren't completely mature as yet. The biggest female is about 5cm (from snout to tail-end), the other female is a little shorter, and the lone male is also a little shorter.

They're certainly one of the smaller, more colourful cichlids around. If you have a small little space for a couple of these in your tank, then go fo it, and see for yourself what they're like/will be. They'll grow on you!

I love my kribs. And my 20ish babies they had.

My female is almost 2.5 inches and still growing.
My male is almost 3.5 inches and still growing (I think).

Thanks, i think that really helps hearing from someone who has them. i was thinking of just getting a pair and that's it for the entire tank. but i might get a new tank too. im just not sure right now.

My albino pair must be at least 4" with the male being bigger. My non-albino are only 2"-3" but they are not grown yet.
