Well, the Kribs had spawned 2 days prior to the tank replant etc and i thought they would probably re spawn in a few moths, but obviously they were more frisky than i thought ;)

I was sitting in my chair infront of the tank and thought i could see loads of dirt getting moved about as the kribs swam back and forth, on closer inspection we have in excess of 50 little Krib babys :D

now how the feck do i get them out of the main tank and into a safer environment where they can grow before i take them to my local shop and sell :/

you could use a vac to get them out you know the thing you suck on to clean gravel they will come up in that but the parents should look after them for the first 3 or 4 weeks anyway

My concern is the 2 Hoplo cats, i think they would hoover the fry up without a thought :/

I may try the hoover option, failing that ill leave them be see if they survive :)

if you don't want alot, you can just leave them in there and its just survival of the fitest, then the ones that survive, you can sell.

my kribs layed eggs the other day, but i think they were infertile and the parents had them for dinner, but on the otherhand the female is still guarding the cave so she might of moved the eggs, ill just have to wait and see in a few days, to see if there are fry :D , HOPE SO !! :)

My Kribs love the Snake cave i got them...i had barely got it in the tank and the female was under my fingers checking it out :)

I am going to just leave them unless i can easily get the small net in and move them to the breeding net.

If you feel you can get it to work then I agree with the small net idea from my own experience as I have found it is fairly easy to do, but everytime I have done it the fry would have been a few weeks older than your's I think. On the other hand, I have had to move things in and out of tanks that the fry have been in before and they are quite resilient, I didnt notice any casualties. Would depend on how big of a replant you intend to do I suppose.

If you can wait till the parents have taken them on patrol to a fairly open area then I have found that the parents will seek cover when my hands enter the tank and with the fry at that age you can just usher them into the net with your free hand quite easily. From your last post it would seem that your kribs are a little more accustomed to your presence and even your hands in the tank so you might get a few head-butts on your fingers.

One thing to consider though is, if you do do that, you might want to watch the female over the next few days and make sure the male isn't stressing her out by trying to mate again or just generally giving her a hard time.

Good luck with the fry and the new plants. :)

p.s. What plants do you find work well with your kribs? Mine can be fairly destructive on that front.

wish you stayed nearer me I would take a couple females when they are older.
I am having major problems in edinburgh trying to find females

i think vallis and java fern work well with kribs, i never see them trying to eat the vallis, but occasionally nipple at the java fern.
my kribs have spawned recently, and the fry are kept at the back of the cave atm, mums looking after them

Well, i checked on Kribs today and i still have about 6 babies, which isnt too bad in a community tank i suppose :)
