I want to add Kribs to my community tank. I had my water tested at the LFS my levels are fine. my pH was at 7.2 the LFS employee said I would need to increase my pH if I were to add Kribs. the info i read on kribs says they are fine in a pH 6.8-8.0. So the store would not guarntee the fish with a reading of 7.2. I have been using ph increase to slowly get my ph up, but it doesn't seem to be increasing any. not sure what to do. If I were to buy the Kribs can they adjust to the Ph in my tank?

Well,

Firstly put the fish bag into your tank to get same temp, after about 30 mins

then take small amounts of tank water and put into bag every 20 mins or so

as the bag gets full , pour it out, (not into the tank)

repeat this for about 1 hour to 1:30

This should be suffiecent, wait for others to comfirm first though

Unless your Kribs are wild caught, which i very much doubt, they will be fine with a Ph of 7.2. They have probably been raised in a Ph of around neutral anyway and your LFS water should be roughly the same as yours if it is indeed a local store.

To play it on the safe side though, do as saboy suggested and slowly acclimatise them to your tank. :)

Yep, what saboy said is good advice, and exactly what I do with every new addition. I bought 2 kribs for my community tank (even made a slate cave, down the one end!) a couple of weeks ago. My pH is 7.2 and they've been fine, indeed give the appearence of being very happy. When it's feeding time, they are the first to the food, without being aggressive, and when I look into the tank, they always swim and hover right in front of me. make sure you have some dither (tetras, barbs, danios) fish though, to help them out into the open. Apparently it gives them courage!
