Kribs And Cichlids

Hi all

I thought I would try and get as many post in as many of the forums as possible so have a question........ Only kidding but I do have a question.

Now I don’t really know anything about Cichlids so this could very well be a really stupid question.

Would it be ok to add 2 Kribs to a tank with Tetra's, Barbs, loaches and a Redfin Shark? I’ve read that they have to be in pairs at least so I know I would have to buy 2 but not sure if their temperament would be good in the same tanks as the fish I have.

I had a quick look on thinkfish and it said Kribensis may get too large to be kept with Neons but I’ve been told its not that accurate.

It would all depend on the size of the tank, but the tankmates are fine.
with Kribs, Males are usually much more peaceful, so if you have room i'd go for two of them.

I have the Rio 125 which should be about a 32 gallon tank and the fish I have are in my signature. Do you think there would be enough room and can you add 2 males? or does it have to be 1 male and 1 female?

well by my reckoning you already are overstocked with 64ish inches of fish in 32 gallons,

what filter are you currently running?
and what are the current water parameters

IMO if you are running more than just the basic juwel filter And the parameters are all spot on, then there is no other reason why you can't add them (other people may disagree here, but considering the size of the majority of your fish i don't see a problem)

and yes males can be kept together fine, most female kribs become very territorial and your tank isn't long enough to provide enough cover for a retreating male if the femal becomes aggresive towards him.

Oh..... I didn't realise i was over stocked already. And im running the standard filter.

I guess the answer is pretty much answered right there!! I guess if i plan on getting any Kribs then ill have to make sure there's enough room. Starting with removing a few fish and then getting a better filter.
