I have a community tank, full of the standard beginner fish danios, sailfin molly etc.

The tank was peaceful with the Sailfin and male dwarf gourami being the most dominant fish, but not aggressive fish.

I introduced a small(ish) Kribensis, slightly larger than the danios. All the fish are healthy and lived fine with each other for a couple of months, although after the introduction of the Kribensis, both the male gourami and the sailfin molly have died in quick succession.

I think it is due to the Kribensis as he is quite aggressive, though I wouldn't have thought aggressive enough to kill anything. Although I am new to tropical fish keeping and not too sure what sort of harrassment it takes to kill a fish.

Have any other Kribensis owners experienced anything similar? I'm tempted to add a Discus or two, and possibly some Rams but do not want these to be killed also.

yeah it can happen i have had kribs that have killed fish before, also what size is your tank.

Kribensis can be quite agressive and I've had a male krib kill his female partner when they were breeding because he seemingly "forgot" she was supposed to be his wife  They are all different though - some will be absolutely fine with all different kinds of fish; others need to be in a tank with the same or bigger fish.

If you are just a beginner, please don't get Discus. I am not trying to be rude or offensive but Discus are EXTREMELY sensitive fish and need perfect water conditions just to survive. They need 75% water changes 2-3 times weekly to keep the water clean enough too. Generally, only very experienced fishkeepers should keep Discus. (I have kept fish all my life and still wouldn't want to try and keep them)

Sorry about that - I just didn't want you going out and spending £25 per fish on some Discus for them to die on you because you weren't aware. :)

What size/volume is your tank in litres? This will decide what kinds and quantities of fish you should keep if you want something a bit less beginner-ish.

What size is the tank? How big is the krib? I wouldn't blame it on the Krib at all. I would pin-point it on water quality. Can you get ahold of a API Liquid Freshwater Master Test Kit?
