Hi
I've just been looking up different kinds of fish, and I find the Kribensis to be really beautiful. However, I dont really know much about them - only what I've read on a handful of sites... so just a few Questions...

1. I know they're African Cichlids, but would they mix with South American Cichlids such as Angels or Keyholes?
2. Can they survive happily in slightly acidic troipical waters? (pH 7.5)
3. Do they have any special dietary / environmental requirements apart from the usual (variety of food / caves)
4. What's the temperament like, because I've heard som sites say like most Cichlids they're placid 'til spawning - but some say they're aggressive?
5. Where can you get Kribensis from online if you wanted to buy some - as I've certainly never seen them in any of my LFSs.

Thanks for any info. :)

1. Yep - with no problems in my experience. Until they breed - then it wasnt too bad.
2. Yes - my pair lived in a 7.4 tank for a couple of years
3. No not really - mine liked the standard sinking pellets i gave to all my cichlids.
4. They are lovely fish and are fine in a community tank (IME) until it comes to breeding and then they are very protective. I boiught another tank for them after the 1st breeding cycle as they were willing to take on anything to protect their cave.
5. There were some for sale on Ebay a while ago - there are a couple of sellers you could try - tropicalfish4u , telfordfishman.

I thoroughlly recommend Kribs as they are beautiful looking fish and are a pleasure to keep.

i think they are the most adaptable of all the african cichlids, you often see them in community tanks

as with all cichlids temprements can vary, some will be more aggressive than others, give them plenty of hiding places and keep your fingers crossed!! :good:

Thanks, That's Great Info, just what I wanted :)

I tried tropicalfishforyou and they're out of stock. And if telfordfishman's the Ebay one, then he doesn't have any items for sale either. Anybody know of any other trusted online dealers?

many thanks

Sorry - I didn't realise delivery fees were so much...PLUS I wont be at home any morning to collect. So other options...

Does anybody know an LFS in Kent or Essex that sells Kribs?

Thanks
