I have pair of kribensis in a community tank that have spawned - after successfully raising 20 or so fry I moved them to a separate aquarium. The aquarium has a sand substrate and since moving the kribenis none have shown any colouration. In the community tank the parents are both very colourful and none of the fry are (even though they are now 5 months old and been in their own aquarium for some 3 months). Does the colour of their surroundings (i.e light coloured sand) have an impact of the colour of the fish. Recently I saw a group of kribs in my local fish shop - they were in a tank with black gravel and all were really dark coloured.
Will the colour ever return to their bodies? Before moving the fry (at about 2 months old) they were all much darker.
Any help would be appreciated!

Just have some patience and they'll get their color back - right now they're just stressed from everything that's going on

No this is normal for Krib. They realy only get the best colouring when conditioned for breeding. This being common in all species and sub species of Kribs.
