Anybody with experience breeding this fish? Could they explain to me how to breed them, TAnk size needed ETC.
~thanks

A 20 long is recommend for a pair and some "dither fish". Dither fish are used to build the kribs confidence and to build the pairs relationship. They become stronger as a pair if they are able to chase fish and work together. I keep my temp about 26-28 degrees. 30% water change every week and sometimes during the week if it needs it. Plenty of plant cover so that the fry can hide from the other fish. Wood and moss type plants are good because the fry pick at the micro-organisms on them. I use Sphagnum moss wrapped up in netting.
They breed in flowerpot turned on their sides but i like to use coconut caves with a little door cut in them. I prefer to use a sand substrate because the babies get caught in the gravel and left behind if they aren't strong enough to keep up with the parents or can't see them because they have slipped down the gaps.
Doing water changes with cool water can induce them to spawn.
They lay their eggs before sun down, Mine lay at about 5 o clock. They take about a week to bring out the fry. I normally take the fry out of the tank at a weeks age and raise them in a breeding box. but it is up to you if you want to leave them in the tank. Sometimes the parents will eat the eggs or fry on their first couple of tries but I haven't had this problem before. PH under 6.8 will result in mainly females but those over 7.2 will be mainly males while those in between will be roughly even ratio.
Not sure what else there is, any questions??

Yea, It was reccomended to me to breed actually, i was thinking of breeding them in a 55 gallon would that be okay?

No tankmates, just a pair as for setup heavily planted.

i would recommend a school of tetras. I like to use rummynose tetras as they are fast and the redness of their faces tells you how good the quality of your water is!

ahh ok, im a big fn of rummys anyway.

The fry will just pick at microorganisms the first week or so then after about 2-3 weeks can be fed micro worms or fry formula. The parents will also pick up flakes in their mouths while feeding and crush it up a bit and spit it out to the babies.
Although thats not what i do, i collect up the babies at one week of age and put them in a breeding box and feed them crushed up flake and tiny little mosquito larvae or tiny larvae of other tiny water bugs, like i mean tiny and feed them that. The only reason i collect them up though is because the other fish in my tank can see them if they get any bigger.
Though in your case i would just leave them in the tank. The fry will just pick at algae and wood and plants and everything and the parents will spit food at them but to help out i would also crush up flake and dissolve it a bit in a cup of water and suck it up in a syringe and put it in the tank and squirt it at the fry.
