Hi :)

I'm not really familliar with dwarf cichlids, and I'm wanting to introduce a pair of Kribensis to my 30 Gallon tank, however I'm unsure whether or not the Black neons and harlequins in my tank would be either big enough or fast enough able to escape the aggressiveness of the kribensis whilst breeding.

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated?

they should be fine together. Just provide them with a cave of sorts, a half flower pots on its side works well. And have some plants in the tank.

They should be fine :good:

My mom has a 30L tank and has a pair of kribensis, who have recently had babies.

She has Red Phantom Tetra
2 corydora's
neon tetras
a loach (not sure what it is)

and the Kribs were fine, even when they were breeding

As Colin_T said, if your provide them with a cave they will be fine. I would also recommend some dense planting in one corner for the female to hide out it on occasion and make sure the cave is not too open, as they like their privacy.

Dued, your mom's tank is over sotcked. BIG TIME. A 30l is equvilant to 7.5 gallons of water. Now, i wouldny recommend breeding kribs in a 10g but it's been done. But a 7.5! Plus, neon tetra's, and Phantom Tetra's, and depending on the loach, need 20g of space! I would recommend getitng rid of the kribs and tetra's, adn picking up maybe 3 guppies and keep them w/ the cory's.

OP: Yeah, they'll be fine. Most tetra's can stay out of the way.

when kribensis12 has said that Caz's mom's tank is overcrowded I thought he was talking about the original poster of this thread, yorkshiretyker. So I looked at the signature of yorkshire and I think their tank might be a tad overcrowded too.
A 30g tank is only 120litres max and although most of the fish should be fine in that size tank the clownfish (I guess clown loaches), and common pleco could do with a bigger tank eventually as they will probably outgrow the one they are in. And when the pictus catfish get bigger they might try to eat the tetras and harlequins. They shouldn't if well fed but they might try.

Come over to the Dark Side.........

.....we have Cookies.....

mmm cookies, stop tempting me :)

Sory guys, had a typo, its a 30G

oops

Then you're fine. You could even add more fish. If I was your mom, I would add a few more corys, find out what type of loach she has, and depending on the #, add more neons and red phantoms.

Cool :)

shes getting some more red phantoms soon because we have a quite a few guys and not many gals lol

thanks for the advice

Hi Guys -

Thanks for all the replies and apologies for late reply - I've literally here there and everywhere searching net and asking for advice in order to sort some of my stocking problems out which some of you have already noticed. Since my first post, my stock has changed somewhat due to research and advice I've gotten from around the net.

5 zebra Danios
4 Black Neon Tetras
5 Harlequin Rasboras
3 Cory's (bronze, albino, peppered)
3 Clown Loaches
1 pair (male & female) Dwarf Gourami's
3 glass catfish

I have since taken the Plec and the Pictus catfish to an LFS who were kind enough to take them from me and added some gourami's and a shoal of Danios. Just at the moment those clown loaches exactly very big - I originally got them to eradicate a snail problem, however I'll be thinking about re homing those in the future and if the bio-load allows me to - possibly sort out the cory's as I'm now aware that they do better in groups of 6 of the same species.

Cheers,
Yorkshire.
