My poor male krib was recently (last month) attacked by the female krib -- to the point where he almost died. I quarantined him for a bit and them rehomed him to the 38 gallon where he was doing beautifully. His fins all grew back and his colors became beautiful again....until a week ago.

I noticed he was hiding in the cave. I then noticed his right eye was swollen along with the right side of his lips.

Now his eye looks really bad. The eyeball itself looks fine -- but behind it looks like a tumor. It's very swollen and there is a little bit of white stuff on top and I can also see a bit of red in the tumor-looking thing. His right side lips are still swollen, too -- it almost looks like there is a hole in his lips (??)

He has an appetite - but he appears to have difficulty eating.

I was treating the tank with Pima Fix -- but it doesn't seem to be helping. I don't want to unnecessarily treat the other fish, so I moved him into a small hospital tank today set up with a sponge filter. Should I use something like Maracyn? Is there something better or more appropriate?

I would treat with FMG (formeldahyde and malachite green) aka formalin
add 1ml per 2 gall of water and treat daily for 5 days
on the 6th day do a 50% water change, on the 7th day he
should be able to go back into the main tank.

It should be noted that fmg will use up a tremendous amount of O2 and an airstone should be used to help with this.

Malachite Green is bad for the live plants, so if you have any remove them or put the fish in a quarantine tank before treating them.

Edit: Now I see that he's in a quarantine tank. Sorry morning stupidity.
