Krib Sick!

Hi, sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope she is ok.

The meds i have added treat all fungus, white spot, ich and velvet.

Also the wormer arrived today but it sounds like it will kill any shrimp so i will have to do it on the weekend when i have time to empty my tank and catch all the shrimp.

So gonna treat krib in QT for the next week with protozin for fungus, ich, velvet etc. then put him in main tank and treat all with wormer. if still no improvement i will put him back in the QT and treat for internal bacteria.

Thanks for your help wilder

The white stuff on the fins does it look fluffy in appearance.

The white stuff has gone so i think it was just debris from the tank stuck to him.. I changed the internal filter and debris got all over the tank. He's in the QT now being treated for internal bacteria... he seems better already! Don't know whether that's because of the meds or not. He's still not eating though.

Thanks

Wouldn't build your hopes up just yet, fish can look like there getting better and then go downhill again.
Was he stressed in the main tank.

I don't see any reason why he would have been stressed. The kribs are the most aggressive fish in the tank and the female has given him no hassel since the 1st week i got him.

I guess i can only wait and see but he looks almost back to his old self :)

The mad is a 2 dose medicine.. could it have such a quick effect after 1 day?

The reason why I asked as you said he had improved and I wonder if he was stressed and feels safer where he is.
I think he was suffering from stress to be honest.

Yes I'm beginning to think that.. but I just don't understand why. I have a well planted tank with caves rocks and bogwood. There are loads of hiding places and i don't have any aggressive fish. He was friends with the female until a week ago when he just started hiding and now neither of them take any notice of the other.

I'm thinking of adding the second dose of meds as i've started them now and making sure he gets well fed this week and then will return him to the main tank.

Thanks WILDER

Hope he gets well bless him.
Good luck.

You were right not to get my hopes up Wilder! This morning he looks awful, he's gone quite dark (which i think you mentioned is a sign of internal bacteria??) he's still not eating, and I just actually witnessed a cherry barb swim up to him and bite him!!! If a cherry barb is picking on a krib there's something really wrong :_(

I'm treating with anti internal bacteria, dose 1 was yesderday, dose 2 on Friday (if he make it). Other than that is there anythign i can do to help him?!?

Thanks

Bless him no there not much more you can do.
He will be getting weak and no beingt able to fight what ever he has off due to not eating.
Once a fish stops eating usually bad news.
Keeping fingers crossed for him.

Cherry barbs can be nippy epescially the males.
