Krib Sexing With Pics!

can any please tell me what sex these 2 are? the 1st one was easy 2 picture but the 2nd one wouldnt come out, excuse the blurriness its with my phone

il try and get some more pics if the results r inconclusive.

what size are they at??? it would be easier to tell if they showed a bit more colour but im leaning towards saying the second pic looks to be a female...not sure about the first pic but it might just be a young male.

i would say they both were about 3" maybe a tiny bit more, the 2nd one (female?) seems 2 bit aggresive 2wards the other one, the top one just sits in the cave all the time.

from those photos I would say that the 1st one is a male and the 2nd is deffo a female.
I had a problem with a female harassing a male until he nearly died.

but so far the 2nd one is almost deffinately a female and the top 1 is most likely a male,
if any1 can add 2 this and give some really stone-wall, clear as crystal, never a doubt, 100% positive answers then i would be truly grateful.

heres some more info

Males are larger with pointed anal, dorsal, and caudal fins. The female is brighter in color and during the spawning season, will develop a deep pink-red to purple belly coloration.
It’s colors are bright and vibrant, especially when the male is ready for breeding. (which is frankly, most of the time) The Krib typically has a bright red line at the top of it’s dorsal fin, that has a sold black strip just below it. The body is stripped with black and white/cream. Tails tend to be yellow on top and purple or white on the bottom. Females have a very purple body and pelvic fins that help to give the impression of a much larger belly than they really have.

well my female deffinately is brighter in colour and has a purple colour on the stomach, the male tho is kind of dull compared 2 the female and is longer.

i concur, top is male bottom is female. just got myself kribs about a week ago. i have a male and female as well. at first the male would always hide in the cave and never come out. they kinda picked at each other at first, and got into little fights. they are getting ALOT better now. they were always shivering to each other. then the male started to come out alot more. then they started swimming together alot more, and now they are in the same save at times lol. hopefully we both have good luck with the fry

well that certainly throws a spanner in the works!

all i gather is that i have a pair which one is male and which is female is up 4 debate but i DO have a pair.

the top one sits in the cave and is attacked by the bottom one 2 the point of real aggresion.

any other people feel free 2 contribute

My female beat the hell out of 2 males before she finally paired off. I bought a pair and they had a few fry but then the male just upped and died on me - not sure why.
So i thought "oh i know i'll buy another male and get them going again" - nope - I bought a juvenile and the female beat the living hell out of him , so I took him back and got a bigger one and she did the same for a few days and then all of a sudden they got along fine

The way they are with each other doesnt change the fact that you have a male and female Krib - 100% certain

I would say your female looks like she is "pluming" up - her belly should swell and get a real plum colour when shes "up for it".

I would try and get another male - try and get one that is bigger than the female as well - you may have to hunt round the LFS for one but it'll be worth it in the end

lol i love the way people try and describe "the act" without trying 2 come across as a pervert.

but yh il probably go down the lfs 2day and have another look just wish it wernt all the hassle
