I'm new to this type of fish. I've had a pair in my tank for a little less than a month now and this morning I noticed 2 fry. I've been watching and can only see 2. How many fry can this type of fish have? I assume there's a lot to do with how many eggs are layed and how many take fertilization.

Mine used to lay about 50 and out of that there would be probably 40 free swimmers and probably 25 survive. If they're in with other fish then the number of survivors will be less.

My Apple Snails munched the last lot of eggs mine laid inside a coconut :(

One of my Apple snails was eating my rainbow cichlid eggs the first time around so I have removed them and the little bn.

They can have tons of babies. The most I've had survive is 100 ish, but I've heard of people having double that. When mine had the most the laid them in 2 different caves, and they were constantly swimming between the caves. :good:

Joy. I didn't realize that they propagate so fast. Not to be insensitive but I hope that nature (my gold Gourami) takes care of the situation. I hope I don't have to sell them, they are a very interesting fish to watch.
