Hi folks,

I have a breeding pair of kribs, no fry as yet as I have only just started. But I was wondering, would I be best (if fry appear) to keep the fry in the main community tank and let the parents look after them until they pair off, or would I be better setting up a wee tank for the fry so that when they are free swimming swap them into that tank until they mature enough to pass on to other people.

just curious... cheers

depends what other fish are in your communtiy tank really. could you make a list.

and also the other tank would couldn't really be a 'wee' tank it would have to be fairly large.

but i would leave them with the adults until they were about .5cm but it depends on other fish in the tank and the size of the other tank really.

:good:

Hi there Jay Jay,

Current house mates are:

1 CAE
1 Pleco L001
1 Dwarf Red Honey Gourami
2 Rosey Barbs
3 Xray Tetras
3 Silvertips
3 Rainbow Threadfins
and off course da Kribs
oh and 6 Neons

the size of my tank is 48x15x15.

What size of tank do you reckon I should get for the fry? 15 gallons or bigger? :good:

if you want all the fry to survive put them in their own tank if you don't mind a few becoming snacks leave them where they are. normally first time the kribs breed they eat their eggs i think. anyway i think the kribs could keep the other fish anyway but it's probably better to put them in the other tank.

i'm not the sure on grow out tanks for kribs sorry but i 15g could be used for a while i expect.

:good:

:good: cool cheers for the reply jayjay. yeah i dont really have any ferocious fish in there the kribs can keep them in check no probs. I think they have two nests going at the moment.... so double chance of success I suppose, fingers crossed.

cheers again. peace out. :fun:
