My krib had eggs! Its so exciting! MY first cichlid to breed ever.

There are a few questions though.
1. The mother keeps touching them with her mouth. She doesnt seem to be eating them. But I have no idea at all what she is doing.

2. She isnt fanning them. Will they die.

3. How long does it usually take them to hatch.

we did turn the pot a bit, I hope that wont make her eat them. But with my luck it will.

1. She is most likely cleaning them .

2-3 .I was always surprised when the kribs I've kept spawned , so I really can't honestly answer your questions , all I knew was they were scarce for a little while esp the female , than after a few days she'd [ they'd ] start moving the fry around the tank until they were big enough to move on their own , I think the eggs hatch in 3 to 5 days , though I'm not sure . They like to be secretive while breeding/spawning , meaning they'll hide if they can .

Good luck and enjoy them , in the past I've had 3 breeding pairs ,including 1 albino pair .

With my albinos , like 3/4s of them were the normal color [ brown ]

there dnt seem to be as mnay eggs today. I hope she idnt eating them.

Even if she did don't worry to much , some fish need to do it a couple of times to get it right , or they may have hatched and you can't see the fry , or she moved them . :dunno:

At least you know they'll spawn for you . :flex:

thats true. She layed the eggs on Thursady that I know of, she could have done it late wednesday, but she was think on Thursday. I didnt see her wednesday because she had been in there digging for a while, so maybe some did hatch. That would nice.

updat: I just checked them, and when she moves near them or mouths them, they move and wiggle, I know that they are not wiglers because they are still on the cave wall. I am thinking that maybe they could have fallen off?

My kribs are on thier third attempt, first two they ate after a few days. I have read and been told here that they need the initial practice. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this time

it has been a few weeks now, and they didnt eat anyone yet. I think that they might have had a spawn before, the father atleast.

the female is 1 inch and the male is 2.5
