My krib has layed some eggs. Should I remove them to prevent them both from eating the eggs or just leave them and see what happens!

I'm so excited!

Any advice would be great!

oo, i kind of disturbed the female when i was checking for egg. Was that a bad thing to do?
Would it affect the way she treats the eggs now?

Please help!

I'm sure a Krib expert will answer you soon, but I'd recommend that you don't go near the eggs - Kribs are cichlids and very good parents, they'll nurture and defend their babies like their lives depended on it.

Good luck and I hope they hatch for you!

If this is a first spawning for your kribs, they will try to be good parents but will probably not do as well as they will the second or third time. Kribs will do a nice job of defending the territory around where they spawned but when the fry start to swim around more freely, they probably won't have the experience to defend the fry effectivly. That does not mean they allow other fish close to their nest. For the other fish's safety, its best to remove them if you can do it without disturbing the parents too much.

Okay, you will do best to not disturb them, as the parents might eat them. Second, if it is their first spawn, they wont usually be very good parents, they have to learn by trial of error, so if this batch dosent make it, they'll lay again and do a better job next time. Leave the parents with them.

yep leave em too it they are realy good eventually. I had 2 survive from my 1st lot and 8 ish from the second that have just gone to the LFS. 3rd time lucky I have about 40+ now.
