I am thinking of adding some kribs (hopefully a pair) to a mature 50g tank and the ones i see in the shop closet to me are small (1-2inches) and not as colourful as the pictures i see around. is this going to change with age or should i look elsewhere if i really want nice coloured kribs?

any other things to look for when selecting kribs? (which i hope will eventually breed since i read they can be bred in the home aquarium)

Dont worry, they will color up when they are pared up, but if not paired and very pretty, then they have good breeding stock( also if they have lots of eye spots). They will breed readly, just make some caves for them( see caves, for a desripction of my new ones). Anything else?

The Eye Spots doesnt necessarily mean good stock. Depending on what line they are from will depend on spot on the dorsal or not. Some do some dont, it makes no difference imo. Just look for a healthy colourfull male which usually should be larger than the plumper female.

I have always noticed that the ones with spots, are a little more disease ressistant, which i dont know why, or it is just a good supplier.
