Ok i can only see 8 at the moment
5 have the black stripe from nose to tail
3 have a partial black stripe, stods around the belly, of which 2 have the purple pelvic fine

i noticed that one of the ones with the full length black stripe has got red to the face
is this normal or has it been injured? this is one of the new ones.

Also could i just remove either the males or the females or would this prove to be another problem?

It could be ammonia burns. It could also be " Pelvicachromis Taeniatus Nigerian Red". If you can get pics i wwill sex them for you, and tell you what kind they are.
