Hello, my first time posting here, was just wondering whether adding a Clown Knifefish to my BGK tank would cause any stress to the inhabitants. I understand that the ClowN is a predator, but I was wondering whether it would be ok with some anglefish, gouramis and of course my pride and joy the BGK? I'm wondering whether it will nip, the fish are all about the same size, definately not edible yet, and I know that the clown will grow, fast. Anyone have this mix and has anyone found it sucessful? I have a nice equilibrium going and I don't want to spoil it. But I do love Knifefish!

you shouldnt have either of those fish in such a small tank, as they will both grow WAAAAAY to bigg for that little tank.

provided you had a big enough tank, (at least 500L) you could have them together.

A 50 gallon isn't big enough for a fish that can get to be about 3 feet long, you black ghost knife will get around 2 feet will need a bigger tank also. Hope you are going to upgrade otherwise it will have to be re homed. :(

its rare you see that that big in aquariums, however, the will get way too big for your tank. my smaller clown knife is 12" and growing.

I know that they are gonna get bigger, I've only just got the BGK hes about 3 inches, I figured I had a good few months to get a bigger tank. I have a couple of BGK's before and they didn't seem to grow very fast, not on a par with oscars or fish like that. But in theory the two knifefish wouldn't attack each other? I have had Clown Knifefish that are very peaceful in the past, I'm just wondering if this is a regular thing with Clowns?

My Clown is relatively peeaceful infactdwonright docile but he has grown very quick and I have made mistakes with smaller fish in the past I have tried to grow on and I'm certain that its the clown and his big mouth that has had them

I wouldn't envisage any problem with BGK anbd Clown butI could see the others being eaten in ner future as the growth of the Clown will outstrip the others in my opinion

and as you know the Clown and BGK will grow large although the Clown will e longer and due to their body height much bigger as they become a big fish all over!

If you decide the get the Clown then I hope you have room for a tank at least 300 gallons.

If not you still need a tank at least double the size for your BGK.

Can't really help you too much on compatibility...
