Kkaannee's Juwel Rio 300 - Upgrade

I think it is good you are not putting discus in with your angel... The discus need less boisterous fish around them. It is looking very good. When will we see pictures with fish in them?

Im actually undecided on the Angel at the minute, It would be a shame to get rid of him, but I have heard mixed stories of angels and discus, considering it is a lone angel and not very aggressive, chances are im gonna test them together. Fish are in the tank, theyre all just pretty small lol

i actually liked the first scape, with that open area in the middle. i like the very light sand! looks great!

Yeah I agree, but I just moved stuff around for convienience atm, will re-do it next week now, sand is Argos, jsut looks really bright because of the crappy iphone camera lol! thanks anyway

Small update

Bought some more plants from the LFS yest, although im still waiting for 5 small swords I ordered from ebay and am probably gonna get some dwarf sag to fill out some areas.

Swords and Vallis mixed, vallis is a bit raggidy but im hoping it will recover, or I might just trim it

Lovely Alternanthera that just livens it up a bit, the pinkness on the underside of the leaves is unbelievable its almost luminous

this tank will look amazing when you get some discus

Thanks for the comments guys :good:

Update:

Well, no luck on the discus front, have tried to make time to get some but its been kinda difficult.

Some new additions, I got a Koralia Nano 900lph from FishyJake, on the forum. I got this to add a bit more flow seeing as im only running the 1000lph Internal atm.

Also, picked up two Bolivian Rams yest from the LFS. Me and the woman in the shop tried our hardest to select a male and female, but seeing as the cichlid person was not in, I don't really know if we got it right. Any help appreciated, see pics. She said I can always bring them back...

Ram 1- not the best pics, as they are still a little skittish.

I think you should up your penguin tetras and corys to at least 6 each.

The tank is gorgeous! I like the sparseness of it.

Thanks :)

Unfortunately the penguin tetra was one of the previous owners fish, and has been living on its own for I dont know how long, I haven't ever seen them in my LFS though, he acutally schools with the black neons now, he probably thinks he is one!

Im definately getting more peppered cories when my LFS has them, they have only had albino, bronze, julii and sterbai recently

I'd love to get some julii or sterbai cories. I think they're beautiful! I might have to look in the Minneapolis area next time I'm down there.

I absolutely love them too, but wow theyre a bit pricey... £6-7 each, i will eventually get some though

At first sight I would say you have 2 females. Males normally have the first few rays of the dorsal fin extended/longer thatn the others and this is not the case in yours. This is however sometimes tricky as the breeding practices have sometimes developed this trait in females too.

I always look for the colour of the abdomen which becomes pink/reddish with females, but this is only when they are in breeding mood and in the presence of males. So maybe going back to the shop and observe them closely for a while is the best thing to do.

I thought the red belly was a GBR thing...
