Kitty litter substrate

New setup on 55 gallon tank...well I thought I would try it: Kitty litter substrate, Schultz soil conditioner and vermiculite with Black Magnum sandblasting sand....and WOW!  I have about 4+ inches....1/2 inch of Special Kitty kitty litter then 1/2 inch of vermiculite then 1/2 inch Shultz soil condition.  Maybe even less then 1/2 inch...Did that approx. 3 times.  Then topped with good 2 inches of black magnum sand.  I ordered a little under a hundred dollars worth of live plants.  I didn't rinse anything not even the sand.  3 Sponge filters with lava media in one.  Bubble wand about 2.5 feet...Bought some cheap 6.79 dollar shop lights...put in 4 - 40 watt bulbs.  Slowly filled up with plants.TANK IS GROWING!!!!
