Hi,

I've got 2no guppies, both male, & yesterday they spent almost the whole day chasing each other round the tank & spent a lot of time touching each other by mouth !!! are they not both male or is there some sort of pecking order being established ? I've had them for about 6 weeks now & haven't noticed this behaviour before.

Any thoughts gratefully received !!!

Fish (generally) don't kiss each other, that's a human thing. If they both have a gonopodium instead of a normal fan-shaped anal fin, then they're both males. Male guppies can get a bit boisterous, it's often wise to have them in a larger grouping so that any aggression isn't centred upon one individual.

ok thanks. I might get a couple more then - do all guppys mix or do i have to get the same ?

They all mix together (they aren't colour-prejudiced! ;) ), but I have to say I really like the way they look at the shops with a tank of the same colour morph all shimmering as they swim.
