How big a tank do these need to be in? Are they ok with cardinals?

Any pet store would probably say a 40+ tank, however the fish can get up to a foot long so I think you should get at least a 50 gallon(if there are only a few fish), if not bigger. Also, they tend to eat algae so if you let some grow in the back of your tank they would love that! The tank should be heavily planted too because they love to hide. As for compatibility with other fish, it all really depends on the fish, as in males tend to be more aggressive than females. Also, if the tank is small then the gourami can be territorial and attack other fish. Good Luck!
