Hello

I recently decieded during my period of re-stocking my fish supplies that I would have enough different foods to last 4 days. So that my tropicals had a different meal two times a day, then a rest day.
The menu is this:

DAY 1

Morning - Tropical Flake Food (Micture of 3 brands)
Afternoon - 1 Sinking Food Tablet

DAY 2

Morning - Froozen Bloodworm
Afternoon - No Food

DAY 3

Morning - Froozen Special Mix (Bloodworm, Tubiflex, Daphina etc.)
Afternoon - 2 Algae Wafers

DAY 4

Morning - Froozen Black Mosquito Lavre (sp?)
Afternoon - 1 King British Tubiflex Cube

This is the first time i've ever brought the king british tubiflex freeze-dried cubes. Because their freeze-dried they float on the water which is useless because only the platties can keep up with the cube in the current and it's only thanks to them that it slowly breaks down, but still floats.

Has anyone ever used these before. It says on the packet it can stick to glass, but it doesn't :(
Anyone know how to get them to sink?? Soak them in water like the king british algae wafers??

hi
i think you'll find most freeze dried tubifex comes in little cubes like the king british ones. i have kb tubifex cubes at the moment & all our fish go mad for it. including our yoyo loaches & one of the loaches will grab a cube & swim under her cave so when she lets go the cube floats to the cave roof so she can have it all to herself ( not daft that fish :D )
your right in saying they dont stick to the glass very well - they dont!!! but you could try sticking a cube on a suction clip stuck to the glass ( like you use for lettuce etc )& it might help let your fish get a taste for it & then they may be more keen to 'hunt' the cube around the tank. or even crumble one up & sprinkle on the surface if your fish can manage flake in the current then they should be able to get the tubifex this way.
or maybe you can turn the current in your tank down a little at feeding time??? do you have an internal filter??
id persevere a bit longer as we have quite a few different fish ( see my signature) & ive seen all of them go for the tubifex at some time or other.......even our bottom feeding corys can be seen swinging off a cube up the top of the tank every now & then, i found an old pic with them in action
