Kind Of Funny

Today I was admiring my little fellow Zao. I think I've been letting him have too much of the frogs food because he's kind of fat. I'm letting him fast today. I'm gonna have to cut down to once a day after this. Anyway I said " Zao ,you are getting fat!" HE then swam up to the glass and stuck his gills out in an aggressive manor and fully displayed all of his fins. Is this flaring? I haven't seen him do this before. Even when I put a mirror in front of him he swam away.

I just thought the timing was perfect, like he knew I was making fun of him.

yeah it's flaring I think he most likely knew what you were saying hehe. Whenever I chat to my boys they wiggle their bums at me- but if my other half does the same thing they flare at him!

Aren't they wonderful!! My bettas definitely know me. And 2 of them blow kisses back at me. 2 of them come to me knocking on their tank if I can't see them. They are such wonderful little personalities.

and by the way what is the "frog food" your talking about?

bloodworms. I wasn't aware they would eat much else

bloodworms should only be feed 1 time per week, twice being the max. it will make him constipated and can seriously hurt his internal organs.
best to stick to pellets or flakes with feeding bloodworms once per week as a treat.

Yes I only feed worms that often sometimes 3 times. What else can I feed the frog that the betta won't try to chow down and gobble up? Or won't hurt him if he does?

do you have an african dwarf frog or an african clawed frog?
they way i would do it is drop a few flakes on top so the betta goes for them then drop in a few worms for the frog right after, so the betta doesn't see them and the frog gets them.

Don't they just look stunning when they show off. Dude has a good idea about the food for the frog, you'll have to give it a try and let us know what happens
