from what i've read, mixing killis is somewhat frowned about due to possibilities of hybrids. but i don't plan to set up breeding conditions. my main curiosity is this. i've ordered an "annual" species and a regular common species (simpsonichthys boitonei is the annual, aphy. australe is the common). would having both species in a 20 gal be problematic? i keep hearing that annuals can be tempermental......... i do have a spare 5 gal or 10 gal the pair could live in by themselves but just curious.

is it okay to mix different variations of a species? for example, i've seen a couple of color variations for the aphy. australe? would mixing the different aphy.s together be okay? what about mixing different types of fundo.? from what i've read these are peaceful species..................................

also, i've read that folks prefer to keep killis in species only tanks. but what about mixing some sort of smaller schooling fish like tetras or harlequin rasboras? just something to act as a filler (its a 20 gal tall.....)
