killifish

I think only the females fins have the black dot. I think the females have a more green-ish sheen.
Wrong info. :*)

I asked Killie experts to be sure, and was told:

"Both sexes have the dorsal dot marking, with the male's being more prominent and having more intense colors. Juvenile and sub-adult fishes don't show it well and are more difficult to differentiate."

I was also given this site with great pics of adults of both gender and breeding tips:

http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/fishz/Ap...us_Panchax.html

They were very helpful in clearing this up for me.

I hope you see this before you go to the LFS. :X

They are both non-annuals.

Good luck cc.

:D well!

i finally went out :D and i got myself 3 blue panchax!! i THINK i have a male and 2 females, but it's hard to tell :)

i set up a 10g, wtih some rocks and sand as my substrate, they love it :D i think..but they're still quite shy and seems to hide more hwen i come around :)

i just fed them some shrimp pellets (they ate a bit of it but the cories got most of it), sprinilia sticks and some flakes to see what they liked :D they loved it all! and boy do they have big moutsh

i'll take pics of hte tank soon when i can borrow the digi cam from my bf  the tank looks simple, but i like it

Congrats cc!

Isn't it great when new fish eat right away?

Make sure you seal off any holes on the cover. They are master escape artists.

an update on them :D

i have added my 3 cory cats into the tank as i heard they really enjoyed the sand, so that's taking some getting use to

the killies are cute  but they don't look as coloreful as they do in the lfs...i think that's becuase they're still a little stressed and hence look pale

I plan to add 4 khuli loaches inot the tank once it settles down a bit :)

Feed them some of your frozen bloodworm. I feed my killies frozen or live bloodworms every other day.

It took my gold wonder a couple days to color up.

Did you put some floating plants in? :dunno:
