MY guppy fry have been dissapearing. Would I see dead ones if they were dying? Last night I saw one of the schrimp with a guppy fry held captive. The guppy seemed to be healthy . Has anyone else had this problem with glass schrimp?

I have a 10g

1 male guppy
20 guppy fry ages from 1 ti 2 mos ( now down to 4)
1 kuki loach
1 oto
1 algea eater
4 glass shrip

The shrimp will try to eat the fry if they are in one place long enough, but that also depends on the size of the fry.

are you sure they're actual glass shrips as glass shrimps are very small 1 1.5 " (most staying around the 1" mark) and would only eat dead guppy fry and even dead adult fish

can you get a pic and make sure its not a different sort of shrimp that catches fry

NO OFFENSE but im surprised how stupid some people are...

glass shrimp/grass shrimp/ ghost shrimp (same thing)

They can actually grow up pretty big, in comparison to an adult cherry shrimp. They WILL eat fry, if they have a chance. It usually happens when fish try to steal their food. They quickly grab the fish's fins with their claws and they eat it whole. They will also do this to fish with long fins.

PS. you MUST do research before you buy a living creature.

Even ghost shrimp will eat the smallest of fry, this is well known, but if it's eating larger fry or even adult guppies it's probably a Macrobrachium species.

As pippoodle asks, can you get a pic?
